Nipples Trivia - Commercial

On the note of nipples...

Here's a live demonstration of how the nipplets (bodyperks) look like.

And here's a commercial about nipples. Hilarious!

Fake Nipples? Jessica Biel, Jessical Alba Hollywood Celebs!

If you haven't already come to know of the Hollywood craze (outrageous as usual, waddya expect!?) you should know about this - fake nipples, tits.. call it what you want.

Also known as pokies, bodyperks or nipplets, these are silicone based nipple paste-ons that give an instant perky nipple. Here's a summary by Body Perks, an online retailer:

What are bodyperks?
They are lightweight, natural colored, silicone nipples that you insert into your bra and place directly on your own nipple. You can create your own look and wear them with tight t-shirts, sexy halters, dresses, twin sets, swimsuits and more. One size fits all as bodyperks were crafted to produce just the right amount of perkiness, regardless of breast size or shape. They will enhance the beauty of your breasts with the illusion of natural, erect nipples.

Pictures
Here's the best part. Some pictures of attention crazy Hollywood celebrities I've found online that have become "spokeswomen" of this biological weapon.

Above: Jessica Alba, Elizabeth Hurley, Jessica Biel (1st picture top-most)

List of celebs also include Lindsay Lohan (not surprising) and David Hasselhoff! YES!

Now, would YOU wear it?
Please vote! I'll release the results in time =)

From my point of view (a guy):
  • Guys like nipples - it's a scientific fact that men's pupils enlarge on visual excitement of the female form. Biology...
  • Women like nipples. Just ask which lady wouldn't stare/admire other's assets?
  • There's something sexy about natural (ironically)
Retails for 19.90usd at body perks online.

Maison Margiela - Ski Glove Jacket

Yet another infamous creation by Maison Martin Margiela.

Ski Glove Jacket

And like their creations, the team of designers under Margiela's wing remain anonymous.... and creative. Guess that's how they get away with these works.

Really love this one.
Reminds me of the uniforms donned in the game Counterstrike. Albeit in a haute version now.

Wicked Artistic Fashion Creations

I can't help but start a post on this, after coming by such wicked brilliant creations.

Artisanal collections, so Maison Martin Margiela calls them.

Here's the Elastic Jacket.
As the name says, it's entirely made up of elastic bands. Yes...

Brilliant. They even made it look somewhat a futuristic, with sharp shoulder edgings. The weaving pattern reminds you somewhat of Bottega Venetta leather weave doesn't it?

If you haven't checked out the infamous House of Martin Margiela's website you truly should.

Don't be shocked by the out-of-this-world presentation method!

Movie Props Trivia - Titanic Heart of the Ocean Necklace

I've been having this urge to start a thread about famous props (for the matter, jewelry) in famous movies.

First thing that comes to mind, seems to be 90s tear-jerker classic Titanic's Heart of the Ocean necklace.

Above: Not the original but a decent inspired version.

Supposedly sunken into the depths of the ocean and unattainable, it has resurfaced in proliferate variations and numbers to suit the lusts of we people, who seek the unattainable.

History
The necklace was fashioned from a large blue diamond worn by Louis XVI. Shortly after his execution in 1793, the diamond disappeared and was believed to have been made into the Heart of the Ocean.

Source of the original Replica
Some online sources quote that original first replicas (paradox?) were sold as limited editions by J Peterman, which was of course sold out in by nature of its affordability.

Wikipedia
Jewelers Asprey & Garrard were inspired to make a real Heart of the Ocean diamond necklace. The result - 170 carat (34 g) heart shaped sapphire with 65 diamonds, totalling 30 carats (6 g). Celine Dion wore it at the 1998 Academy Awards ceremony as she sang Titanic's theme song "My Heart Will Go On"

Guide on Buying
A search on Ebay saw many replicas (as usual) including some variations of J Peterman's which does no credit at all to the certificates of authenticity. But if you aren't picky on a cliched novelty gift, maybe that will suffice.

But do not deviate too far from the original:
  • Original pendant was about 1 3/4 inches in length
  • Huge blue diamond and numerous smaller clear diamonds surrounding (good replacements - crystals, semi-precious stones or even better, sapphire will be best as replacements)
  • Length of necklace - pendant should dangle on upper chest. Short of the bosom.
That said, enjoy your quest for a fine replica! (paradox again)

Poison Kiss - Tests Prove Lead in Brand Lipsticks - Toxic Cosmetics

According to product tests results, October 11 2007 by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics:

More than half of 33 brand‐name lipsticks (61%) contained detectable levels of lead

Among the top brands testing positive for lead were:
• L’Oreal Colour Riche “True Red” – 0.65 ppm
• L’Oreal Colour Riche “Classic Wine” – 0.58 ppm
• Cover Girl Incredifull Lipcolor “Maximum Red” – 0.56 ppm
• Christian Dior Addict “Positive Red” – 0.21 ppm

Health Hazards

Exposure to lead can cause:
Learning, language and behavioral problems- lowered IQ, impulsiveness, reduced school performance, increased aggression, seizures and brain damage, anemia, and, after long exposure, damage to the kidneys.

miscarriage, reduced fertility in both men and women, hormonal changes, menstrual irregularities and delays in the onset of puberty in girls.

Pregnant women and young children exposed to lead are particularly vulnerable. Lead easily crosses the placenta and enters the fetal brain, where it interferes with normal development.

A quick list of lipsticks with grossly high amounts of lead:

Lipsticks with lead levels higher than 0.1 ppm
Maybelline NY Moisture Extreme Scarlet Simmer 0.11 LʹOreal CT 08/27/07

Trivia: The Story of Stuff

Have you ever wondered, what happened to the stuff that you consumed and disposed?
Trust the textbooks? No.

Had been wondering to what extent is waste disposal and rate of extraction of materials for production. The answers to these are never really shown, or most likely the powers be it will never want you to know.

Valentine's over. Time to wake up. Love won't wait, but in the case of a dying Earth, ecology and resources, life won't wait.

Watch this story. You'll be surprised and thankful for their apt and concise summary of things you need to know as an Earthling. And especially since we're all victims of a certain cycle, called consumption.

Trivia #1 continued: Reintroducing the Penannular Brooch

#10: Last of the coveted ancient items list:

Penannular Brooch
"A Penannular Brooch is a pin often used by the Celtic peoples in ancient times. It is still used today in the formal wear of the Scots. A pin is tethered by a frame in much the same shape as a horse shoe. Allowed to travel but not disconnect, the pin works with the frame to fasten clothing together."

Btm (R): Hunterston brooch - based on one of the most elaborate brooches found in Scotland

It consists of a round buckle-like frame and a pin and it is worn like this:
