Rise of Asian Supermodels #2 - Miss World: Ziling, Zhang

Continued from Issue #1, the next Asian beauty queen to ascend into supermodel-dom.

For your ease of browsing and as she's so gorgeous, I've attached a generous dose of pictures. Gorgeous. That's the word

Miss World winner - Ziling, Zhang (Miss China)

Zi Lin Zhang is 23 yrs old and 5 feet 9 inches (182 cms) tall. She was crowned Miss World 2007 by previous Miss World (Tatana Kucharova - Miss World 2006) on December 1, 2007 in a spectacular Miss World event held in Sanya, China .

Trivia:
She attended the University of Science & Technology and attained a Degree in Business Administration, and is now working as a company secretary. (wow what beauty as a secretary?)

Rise of Asian Supermodels #1 - Ford's New Supermodel of the World: Seung-hyun Kang

It's said according to media cultural analysis (or so I've learnt) that the asian woman is the ultimate white men's sexual fantasy - exotic, svelte, submissive (supposedly so haha.. Don't quote me if you wanna dispute)

And if's that's the case, there's always one Asian starlet on the rise in the line of glamour every other year.

Go count - Gong Li, Kelly Hu, Lucy Liu, Ziyi Zhang... more preceding.

Whether it proves the theory or not, it seems that we're seeing two winners in recent world model contests in Asian women.

Flat noses, weird accent (or not) they don't matter no more.
Here's one most recent:

Seung-hyun Kang (Winner of Ford's World Supermodel 2008)
She reminds me a cousin.
In any case, I think her demure, exotic look is redefining!

Trivia #1 continued: Reintroducing the Penannular Brooch

#10: Last of the coveted ancient items list:

Penannular Brooch
"A Penannular Brooch is a pin often used by the Celtic peoples in ancient times. It is still used today in the formal wear of the Scots. A pin is tethered by a frame in much the same shape as a horse shoe. Allowed to travel but not disconnect, the pin works with the frame to fasten clothing together."

Btm (R): Hunterston brooch - based on one of the most elaborate brooches found in Scotland

It consists of a round buckle-like frame and a pin and it is worn like this:

Trivia: My Kinda Accessories - If I Were A Medieval Knight

Top 10 Accessories I'd lust as - A Medieval Knight

Inspired by Old World/Renaissance jewelry designs of late, I couldnt help referring to what we see nowadays in the epic war movies adopted from novels... which of course led me to this article

  1. LOTR High Elven War Helm
  2. LOTR High Elven War Shield

  • 3. Chainmail Armour
4. Horn Bugle

(basically love the renaissance flavoured elven designs)

Oh yes, the mythical weapons...

Main
5. Anathros Sword of Earth
6. Mithrodin Sword

7. Valermos Sword of Fire

8. Viking Axe (nifty weapon to throw - look at the details of this one)

9. World of Warcraft Elven Warrior Sword

Last of all... I'll introduce a real fashion accessory that would be worthy of reintroduction into the mainstream. Originated from medieval times of course!

Sorry this build seems a little too machismo for good.
Why don't you girls tell me what kinda medieval inspired accessories or jewelry you'd want to be outfitted? =)

Most Coveted One of a kind Old World Styled jewelry

I've been into filigree of late (i would say obsession)
And then I came upon this online.

Handmade entirely from sterling silver plate and filigree wires, soldered, wired details, soldered etc. Of all the techniques, the Russian Filigree seems to be my favorite of her works.

Well, save the details, feast your eyes.

All works by master metalsmith and atelier Victoria Lansford.

Designer: Gianfranco Ferre (Spring Summer 08)

I've been researching designers of late (sick of mainstream super designer houses again) and here's another very talented designer, Ferre.

The man behind the style meets practicality wear.

Love the rather sharp silhouette contrasting with flouncy pants/bottoms.
Talk about looking professional to work.

Some of my favorites for Spring Summer 2008:

My favs from past collections:

1) Amazonian meets rock chic-glam
Fall Winter 03/04

2) Style Overpower
Spring Summer 03/04

3) Modern Vintage Preppy/Coquettish
Spring Summer 06/07

4) Lavish Glamour
Fall Winter

Jewel-Box Dresses by Reem Acra

Few things are worthy of mention, and when I do see those that are (which I somehow have a penchant of getting to) I can't help talk about them.

Have a look at these spectacular dresses, hand-dyed with exquisite embellishment works.
Subtle play with sequin tones, black on black, or dramatic Deco styled details.

The height of what I sort of wanted for a men's dress shirt look.

Anyway, feast ur eyes at these. She's dressed A-list celebrities such as Catherine Zeta Jones, Angelina Jolie and the likes. Dressy, classy, flashy yet feminine and oh-so-exciting altogether.

Thanks for inspiring us.
